Description
- “Each club is hand-turned from a single piece of walnut timber by craftsman within a charity organisation that supports over 400 villages in southern India, whom BMF supports. In addition, we donate 10% of production costs to the help the charity as well as their tree planting. Due to the nature of wood there is a variation in density and colour. Sold as single club, so buy 2 if you want a pair.
NB. Karlakattai clubs traditionally have a thicker grip diameter – as compared to regular Indian clubs or Persian meels – and this adds to their level of effort required.
These clubs are sourced from solid walnut logs and as such, carry a risk of small cracks appearing. These are considered cosmetic and can be easily fixed using wood glue. Should your clubs display excessive splitting, then please let us know if this happens and we can work out a solution. Follow this link for information on care and maintenance.

Your review *This club, like every product from Bodymind-Fit, is a masterpiece. The surface is so smooth that you just want to hold it in your hands.
For beginners (men) in Karlakattai training, I think 3kg is actually a suitable starting weight. Don’t be deceived by what seems like a light weight—it’s more challenging than it appears. Karlakattai training has an incredible range of movements (I don’t know of any more comprehensive system, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically the best, most optimal, or right choice for everyone). It will probably take me years to even begin to understand it, but as far as I know, 108 repetitions of a movement are often completed, and the Suttrus feel quite different from training with Persian meels or other heavy clubs. The thick, smooth grip also provides an excellent challenge for hand strength.

I ordered the Karlakattai, starter size (2.5 kg). Arrived pretty quickly, packed securely in eco-friendly material. From the moment I laid eyes on it, I was struck by the impeccable craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Meticulously carved from high-quality walnut wood. Has a smooth and polished surface that feels comfortable and secure in hand. The ergonomic design ensures a natural and fluid motion with each swing. The inherent beauty of walnut wood, with its rich tones and distinctive grain patterns, further enhances the aesthetic appeal of the clubs.
Overall, the attention to detail, from the precisely shaped handles to the balanced weight distribution, is a testament to the artisanal skill and dedication invested in their creation. I wholeheartedly recommend these clubs.

You are obviously a conoisseur of Indian clubs and I appreciate you taking the time to feed back to me.
Thank you, Peter

I bought a 3kg and also a 5.5kg as there’s no harm in being ambitious! Compared to my metal clubbells they’re longer, fatter and thicker-handled, which will be a nice challenge – as well as looking more like a work of art than something industrial.
And on a cold January morning, walnut is much nicer than swinging steel kettlebells or clubs. A definite upgrade, and they arrived well packaged.

I first ordered the BD-X clubs but before they were even shipped i decided to also order a Kai Karlai club. I am very glad i did. the club was delivered very quickly which was great. the club was very well packed and arrived in great condition. This club is a beautiful looking example of workmanship and feels great in the hand. i have had a chance to have several training sessions with the club and it is everything i had hoped for.

Absolutely beautiful club. Been working from home and can’t stop picking it up! I’m never gonna get any work done!! Fantastic finish looks great and as stated just begging to be used. Highly recommend purchasing any item from body mind fit, quality is excellent, order arrived quickly. Peter very helpful changing the size of the bag I ordered to ensure it fitted and I didn’t spend money on a larger bag for no reason.

A beautiful club. The length is comfortable for slow routines and the mixture of weight and balance is just right. The very shaft makes a big difference; I have heavier clubs that are less of a challenge because they have narrower handles. If I had to choose one club for everything it would be this one.
I should echo what it says in the description: the large size really isn’t for the beginner. 6kg may not sound like much but you really need to know the moves first or you’ll hurt yourself. Follow the old adage ‘start light, get it right’!

Thank you Simon and sound advice, on starting light.

Really nice club, very well made, looks great and feels really good to swing. I’ve ordered a number of clubs from BMF now and all of them have been excellently crafted and feel very good to use, and have arrived very quickly too!

Really, really pleased with this club – I thought the BD-X clubs were my favourite until I tried this. Very nice balance, it seems to be endlessly versatile, and for me it does everything I ever wanted steel mace and clubbells to do. There’s a definite meditative quality to the way it swings, and longer, slower sessions are a joy.
If you are looking for a club that could be used as a standalone training method, this is an excellent choice. The fact it looks gorgeous too is an added bonus!
